So far this card looks like a winner at its suggested price.

I also though the following part of the review was interesting:

Anandtech 460 GTX review said:
As we’ve discussed in previous articles, with the Fermi family GPUs no longer are binned for operation at a single voltage, rather they’re assigned whatever level of voltage is required for them to operate at the desired clockspeeds. As a result any two otherwise identical cards can have a different core voltage, which muddies the situation some.

Does anyone think Nvidia could be saving up cores to launch a "Southern Islands" challenger in significant enough volumes? Maybe a Dual GPU GF104 Video card?

This card looks pretty damn good. I just wish this push the prices down for both sides

S.I will beat this mid range pretender like a toy drum.^_^
Not a bad effort by NV.....nearly 10 months after Cypress 5850 and they are actually getting close to its performance.

It's a shame they used the 10.3a drivers and not 10.6, I was interested in looking at the minimum frame rate comparison.

This really looks like the card I was wanting when I bought my 5770. Oh well, I've had about 8 months of actually getting to play.

Huh?

As for our Radeon cards, we are continuing to use the 10.3a drivers. Radeon 5000 series performance has not changed for the games in our suite since those drivers were released.

According to AT, the results with 10.6 are no different than with 10.3a.

It might not beat a 5850 performance wise but it's within spitting distance and $70 cheaper. If I was in the market for a card I'd eat the 5% performance difference and pocket the 30% price difference.

Without a doubt they're binning GF104 to release a higher clocked, fully unlocked chip. Most likely a single GF104 fully unlocked, and with higher clock speeds than current reference gtx460's, will be the gtx475. And I'm sure the dual GPU will be derived from these chips.

Right because they didn't already beat it with the gtx295, gtx470, and gtx480 and also because a $200-220 video card is meant to compete with a $280-290 video card.

Great choice of words and comparison.

At $300 vs. $230, yea, I would think the 460 is the better buy. But, I see 5850's for ~$255 pop up with rebates and Bing cash back every now and then. At that price it's close. I wouldn't pay $70 more for the 5850 when it's not on sale, though.
