Yes... Crucial are Micron's own retail wing. Micron sell only their own D9 chips in their high-end Ballistix memory. If you want, call a Crucial rep and ask them to confirm it.

This has not been updated in some time, IIRC. Someone on the forums called Buffalo a few months ago and according to one of their reps, the Firestix are no longer D9.

there is a lot of memory that has used D9 ic's in some sticks that isn't on that list - my sticks have some very nice chips (DCT or some other D9 variant) but sure aren't listed there

most things like that aren't 100% unless stated by the mfg company - I know before there was a batch of firestix that didn't get d9's and speculation now about the same thing - hell I have value ram that performs better sub ddr2-1000 than most Ballistix. I like to stick to 100% things and often times buy used for that reason.
 
hm, maybe it would be easier to help that guy maintain it than to create a new list? I dunno...just a thought....
 
Typical. That site has just about every DDR2 ram listed except mine :roll: . I have the Wintec PC2-6400 AMP X. Unless I'm completely blind, I don't see it anywhere on that list...

That list is supposed to have the chip maker info for both Micron and non-Micron ones. What I don't understand is that they have the chip maker for both the PC2-5400 and the PC2-8000 version of the AmpX down there at the very bottom, yet no info for the PC2-6400 :|.

Would that info possibly be written on the chips, under the heatspreader? If I do find that out, I figure I might as well send that info in to help them complete the list.

Yes, take a picture of the chips themselves, then send it here and see what people say.
Only reason I don't want to do it is it will void my warranty, and I do some nice OCing with these already.
 
You can try to see how well your sticks are scaling with voltages. Micron D9 chips are very easy to tell by their behaviors. Of course it varies by chipsets (memory controllers), but typically they should do DDR2-800/4-4-4 @1.8~2.0V. DDR2-800/3-3-3 @2.20~2.30V. DDR2-1066 @2.20~2.40V, etc. If your sticks can clock higher with increased voltages, then they are likely Micron D9.
 
I strongly recommend G.Skill HZ series (see my signature).

Not only rock-solid stable, but apparently Micron D9's (never removed the heatspreader!), great bandwidth at stock 800MHz speed, and the specified voltage is only 2.0 - 2.1V. Ballistix and Patriots call for 2.2V, and supposedly might cause problems on motherboards rated at default 1.8 - 1.9 V. You might have to boot with another stick rated at 1.8V, change the timings/voltage, and only then install the 2.2V rated ones.

HZ's work great, at least on nForce chipset based motherboards.
 
ProMOS are not that bad, despite their inferiority to D9's.
I have my XMS2 C4D PC2-6400 @ DDR2-1000 5-4-4-9 timings 2.2v.
 
I'm pretty sure the DDR2-800 Buffalo Firestix are still D9GMH. Mine can run at DDR2-1050 and beyond with 2.1v.

It was only one batch that used Elpida for some reason.
 
Crucial just sent me a letter, so I don't see how you can have Crucial listed as a confirmed product because it's not.

This is what they had to say:

I want to thank you for taking the time to comment on our products. After speaking with our Marketing department, I wanted to give you an update. Currently our Ballistix parts are shipping with the D9 components. Please keep in mind there are still several revisions of the D9 part. We do not use this to market the product because of the shift to a new revision or different Micron part at any time. We do guarantee that all the Ballistix will have a Micron chip, but do not guarantee a D9 component. We also stand behind the speeds and latency of all of our Ballistix parts.

DasFox, no one can "confirm" in your sense of the word (i.e. for all time) that any particular brand uses only D9 chips.

What people are doing here is gathering common knowledge about past purchases so that people can make reasonably accurate predictions about future purchases. So if a particular type of stick has D9 chips, it gets listed, and when someone disputes it, the stick gets pulled from this list.

That said, there isn't very much activity in this list. :Q
