As an avid NVIDIA fan, I agree with your statement that this whole perf/watt thing was just silly. As an enthusiast I don't give a damn about power usage, give me all the performance I can get. My initial excitement at the 980 launch has dwindled steadily as I looked at benchmarks and whatnot, it really does seem like just an overpriced mid-range card (albeit high mid range) but certainly no flagship. I really would like to see what GM 200 can do, and I am cautiously optimistic to see what AMD could do with 20nm and HBM.

So that all being said, the first company that offers an excellent single card 4k solution is getting my money, hands down.
you aren't a fan of anything, you read like a very smart consumer.

20-30w difference i don't care, but 100 watt difference i do care, yes. Going from a FX-4100+GTS450 to a Pentium G620+HD7770 lowered my electrical bill a bunch. Was not a drastically decrease, but had the effect on my bill.
