Liquid Graphite Pencil

As per one of the many hot deals we have going on, I managed to snag a free "Ingenuity" liquid pencil from Papermate. While I'm not a pencil reviewer(thank goodness) it does seem interesting none the less. The "lead" is liquid graphite, so it works more like an erasable pen than a pencil, but the lead does indeed look just like real pencil lead. Supposedly, these things have the right softness to pass as #2 HB pencils(the testing standard), but I haven't had a chance to dig up a scanning machine to test it. The lines it draws are a little thick(.7mm vs. .5), and the eraser downright bites(it is replacable, however), but it's an interesting concept. Maybe the mechanical pencil will be replaced by the liquid one some day? Anyone else get theirs and try it out?

I've been using one for a month and a half now... I'm pretty happy with it. One of my complaints is that (like a pen) the liquid graphite doesn't always flow, especially if it has been kept somewhere cold. Secondly, you have to wait 5 or 10 seconds for the solvent to evaporate before you can erase what you've written.

I do appreciate the fact that you don't have to worry about your lead breaking. It is also much smoother to write with.

That sounds pretty cool. I've used eversharp's for as long as I can remember. I'll have to try one and see if they're good enough to switch.

I got mine in a few days ago... I think it sucks. Reason because the ink skips. If I were to make a straight swipe with the pencil I wouldn't get a straight line. It would be dotted.

normal mechanical pencils usually have HB lead that can be used on testing too

This is also a problem I've noticed. You have to find "the sweet spot" on how to hold the pencil to get a smooth, continuous line.

Sounds like a cool idea, but you can't fix something that isn't broken.

Maybe its the pencil they sent me but, not only do I have to hit a sweet spot which is hard to find, but writing requires more pressure than I like.

I got 2 of them today. I threw them both away. The ink skips and it is very light. It looks like you took a regular pencil and barely touched the paper with it.

hahah i just got this pencil in the mail 2 days ago, i think it SUCKS bigtime. very crappy, it writes like a cheap pen running out of ink.
