Was looking at buying one of these bad boys after I read the review from HARD OCP http://www.hardocp.com/article/2016...eezer_240_aio_cpu_cooler_review/#.VwSxz6R94z4

I'm a bit pensive about buying a water cooler based on one review, especially from this site. Has anyone here owned one of these themselves or seen any other reviews? Im mostly concerned with it being much louder than claimed. If I dont buy this I am getting a d15 as I know it wont be overly loud and will cool decently.

Thanks lehtv. Seems like I could handle the noise, worst case scenario I stop the fans hitting full speed. Think I will pick one up.

I did get one of these for my Spring 2016 build (specs in the sig).

My last desktop build since 2008's C2Q Q9650; first ever water/AIO cooling setup. So I had a lot to catch up on.

It installed very easily. Only issue was it is very thick if planning to place it at the top of the case and use all 4 fans. I could only use 3 of the 4 fans. The 4th was unable to fit due to clearance of the 8pin cpu power plug at the top of the board. Also I had to mount two of the fans outside of the case. Granted I did use a mATX case. I could have placed it at the front but wanted to keep the drive cages intact.

Overall temps seem to hover around ambient at idle to ~68c in the hot days of summer. Today I just ran a stress test, ambient room temp was ~21/22c, idle was ~18-22c depending on the core, and load was ~52-54c for about 3 mins. No o/c, except for enable MCE on all cores to run at turbo.

Edit: As for fan noise, for me personally it's very slightly audible. There is a slight hum, but that does not bother me. I haven't opened the side to check pump noise. But for now, I don't notice it.

thanks, yeah, very difficult to find a case that can hold wide coolers. I am torn between this and Predator 240, this is a bit thinner as it has only 2 fans but is longer as it has the pump next to it...

I didn't do as complete a search as I thought in terms of clearance. Only missed it by a few mm, I guess that would be my biggest advice is to make sure of that. the EKWB Predator 240 was on my radar as well cause I know its a well known name, as well as Corsair's. I just happen to see good reviews of the LF120, then the release of the LF240, and 1-2 good reviews on it. So I figured I'd give it a shot. The price on it was definitely a tipping factor as well.

Let us know, what you end up with.

yeah the price point for LF240 is just unbelievable, there is no competition. I found KWB Predator 240 at a local store for 182+tax which in itself looked like a sweet deal... but still torn... not sure what to do. My current Zalman 120, once I upgraded the fan in enough for what I currently have, but I was thinking about 2011 v3 and was looking for something that can handle it too...

I'm not here to rain on any parades. I'd been planning to use an AiO for my Skylake project -- more likely a "customizable" AiO like the Predator 240 or H240 X2.

I fiddled with my case for a few months so there were options for either a 240mm or 280mm radiator assembly.

Then it was time to order parts. I wanted to look again at reviews comparing AiO and other coolers -- a mix of water and heatpipes.

What I discovered was that the LG Macho by Thermalright falls short of the EKWB under a certain test-bed loading by 5C. It beats the D15 by at most a couple Celsius degrees.

I had my 6700K delidded and re-lidded with Liquid Ultra for a 12C improvement in temperatures. With the Macho, it trumps the EKWB Predator 240 by about 7C.

The cooler seems more compact than the D15 -- significantly. it doesn't hang over the RAM modules. And for using a Noctua iPPC 3000 120mm fan for exhaust ducted to the rear of the cooler, with four 140mm intake fans and a CM Crossflow barrel fan as auxiliary exhaust, the system is terribly quiet.

Of course, all the fans are totally isolated from contact with case-metal or any other hard surface that would amplify motor-noise.

Since the OP mentioned the D15, I only offer this as a possibility that is "not for everyone." But figure I paid $50 for the CLU-relid, about $70 for the cooler and $8 for the accordion duct accessory -- less than $130. That beats spending ~ $180-something on a Predator 240 to run 7C hotter. Of course, you could buy an AiO AND have the CPU re-lidded to get the best result -- with a total outlay of ~ $230.

Put together an assessment of option risks, considering things like eventual pump-failure, leaks, etc. -- the choice is still a matter of personal preference. I just think it's a lot simpler.
