Liquid Cooling

I already found a cooling block, and can probably get a heater core from a car to use for the radiator. I know a shroud is needed to lift a fan just above the surface of the radiator to provide better airflow. There is a hardware store nearby; the tubing can come from there. The pump and the liquid are where I'm lost.

What do I add to distilled water to make it work well? (P.S. I want it to be blue so it matches everything else)

Pump... help. PSI? Pressure-head? Dead-head pressure? Gallons per minute? Can I adapt an aquarium pump that should have an aerating filter by removing the aerating filter and just moving water? What about pumps that have full inch diameter outlets or inlets, can those be adapted to smaller sizing? I'd prefer to get an aquarium pump, it's cheaper than the dedicated computer pumps. Most of my money that I can spend for cooling is going to the cooling block.

That's the cooling block.

have you consulted my guide? I listed products out for a reason to keep it unbias for people. The block you picked was Zalman. If you consulted my guide, you would of read that mixing metals is VERY BAD. If your going to use this block, the only choice you have is to stay the same company. Meaning you have to get a zalman waterkit to be on the safe side.

My Newbie's Guide to Watercooling

Please read up on it, and then tell me where your lost. It should be all the info a newbie needs to start watercooling his comp.

If your a smart modder, you can use a fish hobby pump, however good luck sealing it. Unless you intend to use a submersible pump with reservoir, your going to run into a lot of problems. I still recomend getting at least a swiftech MCP650 aka laing DDC. These will push way more head pressure then a average fish power head, and should provide more then enough flow given you limit yourself on blocks.

Heatercores, on my sticky i listed that if your new to h2o cooling, get a hobbyist radiator. There much more friendly to work with, and you dont need to weld any barbs onto it. If you already have a premodded, radiator, then that is made from cooper. Your block is made from aluminium. Now were back at square 1 with your problem.

On my sticky i also SAID it is VITAL you keep ID <--- inner diameter of your blocks consistant. There shouldnt be any adapters you use to lower the ID. Each time your ID takes a reduction, the OVERALL flow in your loop has just been reduced to that reduction.

In short, return that block if you already purchased it.
My favorate Store

And you can buy all the things i have listed at that link above. They also have high performance custom kits, you can purchase as well. Water Additives are sold there which i mention on my guide.
