Liquid cooling in a closed or open loop?

I realize that I see two types of liquid cooling systems, one is a close system without a resevoir and the other one is an open loop, where a resevoir is needed. Is there a major difference, besides the fact that you have a big resevoir put on ur 5 1/2 drive bay.

They're actually both closed loop, i.e. there is not supposed to be any air inside the system, and the water is not exchaned on circulation. An open loop would be a bong setup, where the water isn't "closed" its "open".

Wall, the Loomen is right about the fact that they are both closed systems. I think you are trying to say what the difference is between a loop with a reservoir and a lopp with a T-Line. The only real difference is that the loops with reservoirs bleed air bubbles almost instantly, while T-lines take a while.

So which one is better? And which choice is better for a first timer?

id go with the res if u can fit it, most of the time it is easier to fill, and it also bleeds the air a lot quicker
