That's what they're planning. Millen pretty much said so. 5-27 and 0-16 in road games is pretty pathetic. It was the worst 2 year record in history except for Chris Palmer and he took over an expansion team.

Yes and No.

The team has lost a ton of games in the last two years by very small margins.

In 2004 Mooch will benefit from three top 5 drafts and all the salary cap money really opens up then.

However, I don't expect much this coming year.

I love Mariucci as I have stated before. However, I think D. Green is getting the shaft on these coaching jobs. Nothing to do with skin color, I just think he is a good coach that should be getting a job sometime soon. I would have taken Green in an instant had Parcells not agreed to coach the 'Boys.

Millen is in idiot and while I dont care for Marty, I bet he could be a decent coach given a chance with some players who cared. Detroit Players most are here for a paycheck and that is it. When Spielman (another Lions blunder) left and Barry too. There went the heart of the team. As long Ford is alive we will be medicore. Remember the famous phone on the quarterback issue call lmao, what a joke.I hope Mooch does well and I know he will with the draft picks and the money open.

Denny Green had the Jax job... But he turned it down. He's in a very good position, and very much enjoying his analyst job. So, he's basically waiting for the perfect coach/GM job to open up.


I think the Lions will be good in a year or two. The previous regime left them in a salary cap stranglehold. In a year, the noose will be loosened.

Also, I think offensive free agents will want to play with Joey Harrington... And he will only get better and better. Add in a decent coach, and quality players will actually WANT to come to Detroit.


Who would be a better fit in Detroit... Green or Mooch? Either one will fit the bill, imho.

Losing Spielman was a blunder??? Yes, he was an awesome player for the Lions. However, he was pretty much ineffective after leaving. Not unlike the loss of Herman Moore.

Barry was done playing. He knew the Lions weren't going to win (with or without him) and bailed. You can't blame any of those things on Millen.

Personally, I don't have an opinion of Millen. Like I said above, his hands are tied due to salary cap issues. We'll see in a year or two how Millen pans out.

doooh not a Millen mistake, a lions mistake. A Detroit Lions Mistake.Thats all they do is make mistakes. He still played for the Bills, he quit one season because his wife had cancer came back and played some more. He had another good 2-3 seasons in him. .Yes and Barry another lions mistake. Show commitment to winning and he would have stayed. When you have an owner who truly wants to win then the Lions will win.

Yes, Spielman had a couple of "ok" seasons after the Lions... But Stephan Boyd stepped in very well, and played at least as good (if not better) and for less money. Too bad that his back wouldn't put up with playing football any more.

Now we have Claiborne... And again, it's definitely not a step down.

And yes, if the Lions had shown even a glimmer of a commitment to winning, Barry would've stuck around. Although I blame him for quitting the day before training camp (the timing was horribly selfish) and not being in this hemisphere for the announcement, I can see how he got so tired of losing.
