Meh.

The Fable games have always felt like a generic "also ran" to me, like if someone asked me for some decent RPGs to play, Fable might be like 5th or 6th on the list.

Sucks seeing developers go, but I won't be shedding any tears for Lionhead or the Fable franchise...
 
Fable legends looked like it might actually have been fun. Too bad.

From the way it sounds, and maybe I'm inferring too much, the studio was poorly run and couldn't deliver the game. It was their only project and it was in development since 2013. Guess MS just decided to cut their losses.
