KYIV, Ukraine - A lion killed a man who climbed into its enclosure in the Ukrainian capital's zoo, police said Monday. The lion attacked the 45-year-old Ukrainian late Sunday after he used a rope to climb down into an enclosure with four lions, said Kyiv police spokesman Volodymyr Polishchuk.

He said the man, who was not identified, was acting aggressively and the lion seized him by the throat. The man, an ethnic Azerbaijani, died at the scene. Ukrainian TV channel NTN broadcast interviews with witnesses who said the man told them that he wanted to test God, believing that God would not allow the lions to hurt him. Zoo officials could not immediately be reached for comment.

See, on a sunday night, I like to go to the pub or chill out in front of the TV. Was this guy so bored that all he could think of was to test his god?

It would appear that religion is bad for the body and not just the mind!!

Some years ago a drunk started a snowball fight in Berne's bear den. :p Obviously the bears won but they weren't given enough time to make the fatality move.

And God replied,

"WTF, it wasn't enough that I installed a fence around the lions to protect you in the first place? :frown:"

Perhaps the zoo officials could not be reached for comment, but God was last heard laughing his ass off.

Why would that statement "queue the christians"? It's common sense. You jump into an enclosure with a lion and act aggressive towards it, it will KILL YOU.

Better description from Reuter's:

http://go.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=oddlyEnoughNews&storyID=12425024******=rss/oddlyEnoughNews

KIEV (Reuters) - A man shouting that God would keep him safe was mauled to death by a lioness in Kiev zoo after he crept into the animal's enclosure, a zoo official said on Monday.

"The man shouted 'God will save me, if he exists', lowered himself by a rope into the enclosure, took his shoes off and went up to the lions," the official said.

"A lioness went straight for him, knocked him down and severed his carotid artery."

The incident, Sunday evening when the zoo was packed with visitors, was the first of its kind at the attraction. Lions and tigers are kept in an "animal island" protected by thick concrete blocks.

So GOD installed the fence at the Kiev Zoo?

I thought he mostly subbed out fencing work.

That's an odd choice of words--you'd think he would have shouted "Because He exists" instead of "if". If I was CHOOSING to die, I'd prefer it to be for something that I already believed in.
