after downloading and extracting LinX, i can't seem to move the folder to another part of my OS and open the linx.exe.

it only opens when i have the folder located on the desktop.
if i'm being a noob right now please just laugh at me then tell me how to fix this =)
 
It might be helpful to provide more information on the program you are talking about, since there is more than one Linx in the world.
 
I'm guessing you extracted all the LinX files to your desktop and then moved all of them except "LinX.exe"?

if so, just reunite the LinX.exe w/ it's associated files (x32 / x64...dll's, etc) and then create a shortcut of LinX.exe to your desktop.
