I'm about to build a file server and which linux os should I install?

I'm thinking about Mandrake and Gentoo. Any suggestions?

I like Gentoo, because it can be a very stripped down lean machine. I like knowing what is on my machine, and why. It's sometimes less user friendly, and ebuilds can stick files in the oddest of places.

You should write a script that scans the os forum for links with the words "linux", "which" and "n00b" in the title. It could then pick a distro name at random and post that to the thread.

It would save you a whole lot of time... Or are you already doing that? :Q
