linux with the shuttle SV24/25

zzzz

One of my friends wants to get the shuttle mini pcs ( SV24/25 or the newer P4 ones) and he runs linux. So is the motherboard compatible?

the sv24 has via PL133 and that is the cheapest so he will go with that.

rest:
Sv24/25: Via Pl133
SS50 : sis 650
ss40G: sis740/sis 961

That should work with newer distros. I personally stay away from VIA, but thats a personal experience thing. For any integrated hardware, redhat has a nice list of hardware that is compatible and some that are certified. Its not complete by any means, but its a start. Also check out this little search engine, you may have heard about it from a geek friend or two, called google.com. groups.google.com has an archive of many usenet groups. Good luck.

I have the newest version of Red Hat running on mine. I encountered no problems. I am a Linux newbie, but it seems that if one "flavor" of Linux won't work on a puter then try a different one.
