linux/windows dual boot problem, help!

Ok nevermind, I got it working, but i'll keep this message here for informative sake only.

<original post>

Well a couple weeks ago I installed linux on a second hard drive just to play with it, but was having problems with bootup. If i wanted to boot into windows, I had to set my primary HD as the 1st boot device, if I wanted to boot into linux, I had to set my second HD as 1st boot device.

Well I got sick of that and assumed if I installed them both on the same HD, that would solve the problem. So I went ahead and partitioned my primary HD and gave Suse 10 25gigs to use. I went ahead and installed it fine and now the problem is, on my grub when I choose to boot into windows, I can't! It says:

chainloader (hd1,0)+1

and just hangs. That was the same thing it said before when I had the two operating systems loaded on different hard drives.

I found this page which I thought could help me fix the problem. But when I right click menu.lst and try to open it with Kate, nothing happens, and I can't edit anything when I just double click on the file! WTF? I'm sorry but linux is just TOO damn secure, to the paranoid psychotic "they're coming to get me" level. I mean I feel like a restricted locked user on my own machine. Anyway sorry for the little gripe.

Anyway, any ideas? Please help I need to boot into windows to get some important files by tomorrow 🙁. If it's possible for me to just completely uninstall linux or the boot loader and just default load into windows i'm willing to do it and quite desperate at the moment. I also noticed while in linux it's not letting me access my other hard drives/partitions. it says "could not mount device. mount: can't find /dev/hdd5 in /etc/fstab or /etc/mtab.
Thanks

<EDIT>

Ok nevermind, I rebooted and it let me into kate and edit it. I added in the info from that site I posted and it let me into windows fine, whoo! I still can't connect to those harddrives in suse though, same error...
