Linux vs Windows & driver performance

Been playing around with Linux Mint and like the fact that it gets stuff working without installing a bunch of extra drivers but was wondering if there is a performance loss by not using the latest hardware drivers. Anyone know if there is an article showing the difference, if any, that drivers make? Thanks.

GNU/Linux gfx drivers will certainly be worse than Windows. Chipset and other may be equal Windows or not. I wouldn't expect GNU/Linux drivers to exceed Windows in any case.

Thanks. Glad to see graphics are so similar in both OS. Still curious about things like ethernet and storage drivers. Can we expect similar performance?
