Linux vs MSI KM2M Combo L

The Km2m has a KM266 chipset with integrated S3 Pro Savage DDR video. I have been playing with X settings in SuSE 8.2 for about a week and I finally got the on-board video to work at 640x480. No matter what I do, it won't bump to 800x600. Anyone have any ideos?

You may want to check here. It has many options for the S3 Savage chipset along with a custom driver module.
Make sure that your monitor is specified correctly in the XF86Config-4 file or no high resolutions will work no matter the driver....
