Hi! I would like to know if and how it would be possible to produce a live stream internet broadcast from a camera using the composite port (yellow plug) using linux. Considering that linux is the only alternative due to the fact that the videon/in driver for the system does not support Win2000/xp and that most of the streaming servers will only run on winnt based systems, what streaming server should be used?
I have heard of Darwin, but I am unaware of its licensing conditions, and of course the realserver, which charges 6500USD for a license. If I then obtain the server software, would the driver automatically be installed or do I have to get the driver?
The graphics card is an integrated SMI 721. I think I may have a driver for linux, but I am not sure it will support video in. The product page of the computer is http://www.digitallogic.com and the product is called MicroSpace PC (the blue one).
Does anyone have experience in this kind of hosting? Would you recommend linux or should I go for windows and see if I can obtain drivers for the video/in? Any help is deeply appreciated!
