Linux version for older Laptop

I basically want the ability to browse, documents, wifi lan. Which distribution is normally best for laptop installations?
It is a panasonic CF-48, p2 366, 6G hd, inexq 802.11G, 64 Meg ram, NeoMagic Magic Media 256AV graphics, matsushita touchpad, Yamaha DS-XG audio, Xircom 56G modem.

Any modern distro would work. Newer ones are actually a bit faster then older ones, as long as you configure them to use minimal amount of software.

Specificly for older machines you have Vector Linux, which is based on and is compatable with Slackware. That is specificly optimized and uses minimalist programs to run well on older hardware, like 100-200mhz machines and the such.

A full fledged KDE/Gnome desktop enviroment will probably seem laggy, but any distro can be configured to have a gui using a minimalist type window manager like Fluxbox or XFCE. The RAM will be a bigger issue then the CPU....

Fedora with minimalist window manager like Fluxbox, with all it's extra services except the firewall and sshd turned (readahead can be turned on to speed up boot ups a bit if you want) off.

People have reported good success with Mandrake Linux. Check out linux laptop.net for people's experiances with various laptop brands and such.

Vector Linux is my choice. And use the search in the forums in the future.
