LINUX USERS HELP!

I bought a computer off Ebay and it has linux instaled. I need to know where i can get instructions for removing linux and then installing windows. I know what i am doing as far as reformatting a HD and installing widows( have done it multiple times). But being linux is installed i dont know how to get to the DOS menu to FDISK. Very unfamilliar with Linux. thanks in advance.

Definitely one for the OS Forum - not Highly Technical.

But I would recommend just using a DOS boot disk to boot to DOS off a floppy/CD and then you can use FDISK to destroy a perfectly good OS and easily replace it with the flakey stuff that comes out of Redmond. 😉

Since this is the HT forum, here's an HT answer for that particular question....

Step 1. Take a 400W or more PSU and a bunch of bare-end wire colored Red, Yellow, and Black. The higher wattage the better.
Step 2. Connect all the wire to each socket of the molex connectors on the PSU based on the color of the wire except for one. Make sure the PSU is unplugged before you do this.
Step 3. Connect the un-wired molex to the HDD.
Step 4. Connect the wires from the wired molexes to the IDE interface in this order: Starting from upper right and heading left, Yellow, Red, Yellow, Red... until you run out of yellow and red. Then match the pins below with all the Black wires.
Step 5. Strip the power cord of that thick rubbery stuff. In the middle of the cord, you'll find at least two thick wires. Make sure that wire is bare metal.
Step 6. Take your shoes off.
Step 7. While holding the bare power cord, preferably one wire in each hand, plug the PSU into the wall and turn it on.

Voila! no more Linux....

And if that doesn't work...
Step 8. Take two bare metal objects (something like thick wire stripped down) and take one in each hand, then shove them into the wall socket.

not really, for HT you need to be more detailed about the PSU and which metals you use 😀. just stick the hard drive on the top of your lighting rod and wait for a storm 😉

From a DOS boot disk with fdisk or from a Windows 9x/boot disk with fdisk boot to a DOS prompt and fdisk.

You can easily delete a NON-DOS partition and format from fdisk. Or fdisk /mbr then delete the NON-DOS partition with fdisk.

sorry, but it is not possible to remove *nix completely, instead you must learn to use it.
attempts to remove *nix and install winblows will result in frequent crashes.🙂
