Is there a way to change the default volume at startup?
I've got ubuntu running on my secondary rig, and I love it so far. one minor annoyance however, the master volume is always set to 50% at startup. this causes many programs to be barely audible to completely inaudible (lastFM for one) until i manually adjust it to 70-100%. Can i set the default master volume to be 100%? how?

Once you set the Master volume, it should stay. Does it always revert to 50% when you restart the computer? Try typing alsamixer in console and adjusting the master volume.

Yep has occured through about 3 restarts so far. I'll try using the alsamixer when i get home. so far i have only used the menubar icon, but isn't that the same thing?
thanks.

I know it's not much help but on my Ubuntu setup the volume at boot is always set at what it was at the previous shutdown.
