After reading the Maximum Linux review and from various posts around the net, it seems that the Linux version of Tribes 2 is comfortably faster than the Windows version. Apparently the Linux version runs T2 with all details maxed at 1024x768 in 32bit color at around 30-40 frames on an Athlon 700 with a Geforce GTS card. With all options maxed running T2 on Win2k with a Duron 950 and an oc'ed GTS card, I only receive about 30-45 frames. If anyone runs the Linux version of Tribes 2, please post your system specs and performance (framerate) of your rig.

In addition, can anyone give a little insight on how well the ATI drivers for Linux perform? I am seriously considering installing Linux again on a separate hard drive for the sole purpose of running Tribes 2 if the framerates are noticeably better than having it run on Win2k.

For those FreeBSD users: Does the Linux version of Tribes 2 run on FreeBSD?

Well one of the reasons why they have different framerates is that there is no timedemo. It's really hard to measure the performance just be running around randomly and looking for the high and low range.
