Linux setup/Hardrive Problems/LINUX/Motherboard mess...Who knows....

I've been trying to setup Suse E9 on this old box. Two days ago everything was working great. So i turned the machine off and next day when i go to turn it back on, the harddrive isnt detected. My first instinct is to think its fried, so i freak out cause i dont have another one. However, before buying a new one, i forgot to check the cables to the IDE drive. Amazing. It actually works. However linux still doesnt boot up. I ran the fjitsu diagnostics and the harddrive pops out fine. I reinstall linux and everything goes great. On restart, the system wont let me login, it says the graphical interface can't be loaded. It had to have been one of the settings i messed with during the install.

Here's where it gets all messed up....

I got to restart my system, and neither drives are found (I used 1 cable to connect the CD-ROM/HDD. which had previously solved the problem) Nothing is found i have no clue what to do. Could it be my PS not putting out enough juice. I have a 120mm fan, the ATX main, and the two Drives. It has all these connectors left over. Its a 300w antec. and the MB is a GA-7dx Gigabyte. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

When Your Drive is not found . did you hear it spinning up at all ?

Does the Computer Stall or hang when it is looking for drives ?

Too many variables. It sounds like you don't have enough linux experience to deal with a hardware and software issue at the same time (and even if you did, it's no fun if you don't have to do it). So why not install DOS or something simple like that and get it working reliably for 100 bootups or until you are confident it is working properly. Fix the flakey hardware than move back to the software.
