linux seti question (Thanks n0cmonkey)

ok, I'm told that to get the most out of the cli version of seti, I should use wine, first off, where can I find it and how hard is it to install on Mandrake 10.0?

Then what do I need to do to get it to run? this box will soon be running 24/7 and will only serve as my hits4pay reading system (which is why I used linux on it) to make sure I don't screw up my main rig with spyware and such.

specs for those interested

Dell Dimension XPS R-450
slow, P2-450 w/256MB memory
10GB hard drive
mandrake 10.0

440BX chipset, anyone know what this chipset will handle? I might snag a faster slot1 proc to upgrade it if one becomes available.

Thanks n0cmonkey, I have wine installed, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to use it. I'll look at the .org site and see what I can find there.

You're right, you're missing the reason for his post 😉

The reason to run the Windows version of the Seti CLI under Wine in Linux is because this method is much faster than the plain old Linux CLI version. 🙂

I have had some success getting the Windows CLI to run under wine. I'll check out one of my Linux boxes and report back when I can

Holy Hannah! Wine rocks, I rpm'd the installer yesterday, and it took me an hour this morning to figure out that once it's installed there really isn't much else to do, just run the program from a chosen directory just like in windows.

Thanks a heap n0cmonkey, should give us a few more WU's a day (like 2) out of this box.
