Linux Security: X and port 6000

So I've been working securing my linux box, and I've gotten down to port 6000, which I've read that X uses for remote X sessions. I'm not too concerned about this, so I've been trying to close it, but nothing has worked so far. I've read to put this line into /usr/X11/xinit/xerverrc:
-nolisten tcp
Did that, killed X, restarted and 6000 is still listening. I've scoured google and everything says to do that. Is it possible or should I just block when I get around to playing with iptables. Any help is appreciated, thanks.
