Ok. I just installed mandrake 8.1 everything went well cept one mistake. I forgot to put in the NIC when installing. Well I put in in after ward and Hard drake keeps hanging up at the configure screen. It is a blank screen with nothing else there.
Do I have to just wait it out or did i screw this installation?

By the way anyone know what the average temp for a T-bird 1100 is supposed to be?
 
Forget hard drake and just load the module yourself. Figure out how Mandrake loads modules at boot and configure that if you want. If you feel like reinstalling, getting a more up to date version could be a good choice.
 
Well as you can prolly guess this is my first attempt at linux. Figuring out how to load the modules is not covered in the book, so I guess I'll look up how to do that. Do you suppose 8.2 will be able to load without conflicts?

If 8.1 worked well so should 8.2

Loading modules is pretty easy. Take a look at Mandrake's documentation and linuxdoc.org

Most of those FAQs were written by Andy Hui. The AT FAQ Man. They are all pretty good and have answered some questions I had (and some I didnt). 🙂
 
I am glad there is a FAQ like that here in the forums. However I suppose I would have seen it earlier if I could've pryed (sp?) myself from Hot Deals and For Sale / Trade....😱

I have only 2 purchases, but both have been pretty expensive. 😛

I have a decent job and Im living paycheck to paycheck because of my addictions 😛
