Linux + PVR-150

What TV viewing software plays nicely with a PVR-150? I remember installing mythtv and the remote just wouldnt work. Also tried mythbuntu last year, and it just took over my computer (boot, desktop, etc) and really slowed it down.

Has these softwares gotten anybetter? I dont care much for the pvr and media center part, just want to watch live tv.

The card is fully supported under the Linux kernel. Any software that can process a live mpeg stream can then be pointed to /dev/video0 (or whatever linux assigns to your tv card) and the stream should appear. If you just want a simple application to watch tv try tvtime.

I'm not sure why your remote didn't work.

I tried to setup LinuxMCE, but it appeared too buggy before. I'm going to give it another try over the summer because it has amazing media center capabilities. I've never bothered with mythtv or freepvr, but they are constantly being worked on.

Thanks for that.. I got audio but no video (black screen) with vlc. but it works fine with totem too. Guess ill have to keep looking for one that is friendly with pvr150 and its remote, tvtime doesnt work mpeg2 cards only framegrabber cards.

I have a pvr-150 and was able to watch using mythtv with the remote working, as well as tvtime I believe. I think even mplayer worked.

edit: to get the remote working you should look into lirc

There is no quick way to do MythTV. Some of the distributions are a real help but configuring remotes and all the little extras is a chore. Once you get it right though it works very well in my experience.
