Linux proxy (isdn shared connection) having trouble connecting to an isps windows NT server

this is really killing me, ive used all the normal protocols that ive used for connecting to other isps. what could be the problem?

You're dialling directly into a Windows NT server for your ISP? Most ISP's use an access server from Ascend or Cisco or 3Com, basically a big rack with a bunch of ISDN adapters in it, and a server only gets involved when the access server checks your authentication info.

Could be a problem with the authentication security level...if its set at max ie microsoft encrypted authentication, then you will have to install on you linux machine a module that will do MS-CHAP..I wish I had more info about that but unfortunately i don't :( ... you might have to call your isp to find out what type of authentication they use.. they may have better suggestions..

i know they use chap - so if the server machine is NT will it be ms-chap? as i can connect using my 56k modem from windows and ive run winipcfg and got all the relevant info i need. anyway, thanks ill do what you suggested.
