OK I am trying to load Lindows 4 Linux on a new box and get the following error after the install process begins right after the splash screen which give me the install or diagnostics option, it then which concludes with a blank screen and won't go any further the error is:

Linux agpgart interface v0.99 (c) Jeff Hartman
agpgart Maximum main memory to use for agp memory 941M

Here are the HW specs
Epox 8RDA+ Nforce 2 motherboard
Athlon XP 1700
1 GB RAM
Geforce 4 MX 64mb RAM

Any ideas? Oh an please don't bash Lindows and begin with saying try a new distro or such, blah blah. I have other distros on other machines but this should install here, just need to know what's going wrong.

I don't know why it's not installing, but that's not an error.

Can you try it with a little less memory? Like 768M?

I guesss I could take a 512mb stick out, but I shouldn't have to just to get this OS installed I wouldn't think.

Well ~850M is the cut off of low memory, if you need to access more than that you need a kernel with HIGHMEM support. While a kernel without HIGHMEM support should work with more memory it'll just ignore it, but if it is compiled with HIGHMEM support and there's some problem with something on that motherboard it could cause problems. I've never used an NForce board so I have no idea how well they're supported.

I may be reading it wrong, but its saying that the agp has 941MB of mapped memory which is just insane. Perhaps could you give the agp bus just a tad less?

It may be a lot, but I doubt it should cause the box to hang.

last time I looked nforce2 support was lacking in most distro's I assume Lindows is the same if not worse.
