Here is the deal, I have an old pentium 133 with about 50 megs of ram and a 3 gb hard drive, I was running windows 2000, but now i want to learn linux. First I installed a old version of linux i had laying around redhat 5.2..... after not too long i decided to download something more recent.

First I tried Mandrake 8.1 problem, the bottom of my screen overlaps to the top.. hmm then i go and install redhat 7.2, same problem!!!
What do you guys this the deal is i didn't have this problem with windows 2000 or redhat 5.2
:| Please help!

Thanks for the help, I swapped out the original STB video card for a Matrox Millenium I had laying around and everything is working!

Probably a driver issue in X. Does it happen when you exit from X Windows and go to a console or when you do the install? Do a search around for linux problems with your video card and/or monitor.
Someone has got to know the reason why or the trick to fix it.

Cheers

Ok, Its an old Gateway 2000

Motherboard: P5-133 Pentium Motherboard and Processor
Processor: P5-133 Pentium
Memory: 8MB EDO DRAM 1X4-6 memory
Video Card: VID WW STB 5446 1MB PCI Drivers
CD-ROM: 12X IDE CDROM Drive
Hard Drive: WD Caviar 13200
RAM: 50 megs

I have a couple of old video cards, i could try if you think that could be it.. now this computer was running fine with windows 2000, and it works fine in Linux until you start using GUI, like the when installing Red hat 7.2, the first screen asks you what language.... also I had the same problem with Mandrake 8.1..... Bump for someone learning linux..
