I have a laptop running WindowsXP Professional right now, but I want to install Linux on my harddrive which I mounted in an External Enclosure which connects via Firewire to my laptop.

I can't think of a way of installing Linux onto the harddrive and having it boot correctly.

I know that windowsxp comes with it's own boot manager, but will it detect the Linux on the firewire? I don't think it will, but just checking to see if anyone knows first hand?

And saying it won't detect the linux, how can I make the boot manager detect the harddrive on the firewire?

Thanks!
