Linux on Barbie

I bought a PC Barbie on the hot thread. I thought I'd give it a try. Anyways, every time I try to install any OS other than Win98 it restarts during the installation process. It's not the HDD or the RAM (tested it already). I dont know what else to do. It has an Intel 810 chipset. I've tried flashing the bios, but I'm not sure if it's the latest version. Thanks in advance.

I have one of those pc's also. I've put mandrake 7.1 and 8.1 on it no problems. I also did a dual boot with 98se no probs. Thats kinda wierd it keeps restarting during installation......does it restart randomly in 98?......Sounds like a hardware prob.....could be your psu......but i'm not expert by any means.....
Have you tried to install linux as your only os on that comp?

By the way where did you find a bios update for that? I looked around and couldn't find one

magneto,

I've tried installing just redhat 7.1. It doesn't keep rebooting in win98 se, but does seem to install every now and then. But thanks for the feedback, I'll try some different things. Anyways as for the Bios Update here it is, I'm really not sure if it's actually flashing it cuz it's not in english. But good luck.

PS. I've also tried to install FreeBSD to no avail. 🙁
