Linux on an older Dell?

aircooled

Lifer
I need to install Linux on a box just for testing purposes for my company.

The only machines available are Dell Dimension P166's with 64mb RAM.

They want me to install Red Hat.

Since this is a dell with their proprietary mobo etc... do you foresee any problems or issues with this install??

Thanks!

FYI- My only experience with linux is a Red Hat 5.2 install I did at home once over a year ago.

When I had the box, I was using my first PC (Dell Dimension XPS166s) for Linux with no probs. I had all of RH 5.2, 6, 6.1, 6.2 and a couple of mandrakes on it with no problems, at least none that I didn't cause myself 🙂

As long as you haven't installed any goofy sh1t you'll be ok.
