Anyone have any experience installing ubuntu on a chromebook yet? I just picked up one for pretty cheap, and I wanna eventually put that on there.

Is it officially supported, or am i gonna have to do some messing around to get it to work? And once it does, can i expect a stable experience, or will i frequently encounter issues like wifi, sleep, etc.

And if anyone if wondering, its actually a pretty nice little laptop. I do wish the screen were a bit nicer, but for what you pay for this is perfectly acceptable.

Which Chromebook? Some are easier than others. I've never done it, but I would make sure I could install my own O/S before purchase. I have zero interest in running ChromeOS, and if that's all I could use, it would be an expensive paperweight.

sorry, should have mentioned that its an arm based chromebook. this is it: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-XE303C...rds=chromebook

I saw crouton, but is there a performance hit at all from running the OSes side by side? Or should i say - would I see any benefits by doing a single install of ubuntu rather than dual booting?

Ive been using the chrome OS for a few days, and to be honest - i really like it. I think for a lot of people, something like this is great for a super portable laptop. Im probably gonna give it to my grandmother once im done messing with it, and I think its absolutely perfect for her.
