I just recieved finally, the Linux cd's from pogolinux that was offered for free a while back. I lost my broadband connection a few months ago so I was not able to download it. Anyways, here are a few questions. I am very interested in trying out linux on a spare computer. If I like it, perhaps I'll make the switch to my main PC. Pogolinux sent me Redhat Linux 7.1 - Kernal 2.4. I understand that 7.2 is out. Is there any way for me to download an upgrade to 7.2 from 7.1 or must I download the entire 7.2 iso images to run 7.2. Also is it even worth it for me to attempt to get 7.2 (I could get a friend with broadband to download it for me) over 7.1? I'm a little anal in the sense I'd like to have the latest version of a software, OS, etc even if it doest yield much improvements. Any good linux sites you reccommend? I've been browsing linux.org for a little bit. Again...this is my first time even touching linux or reading up on it so I feel like a total newb, which I am.. thanks.

All you need to do is download updates. Technically you could go from any version of Red Hat to 7.2. It's really easy. Just download all the new packages. Red Hat includes an update utility to do this with too.

7.1 should be ok to try it out. If you can though, while using 7.1, have someone download 7.2. Or if you like 7.1 buy 7.2 ;)

I dont trust any update tool much, so do that at your own risk ;)

Also, linuxdoc.org is possibly the best info site out there.

I agree, I don't like the update tools either they tend to do some screwy stuff sometimes. But for n00bs they are okay. For some good newbie info try: Linux Newbie. They have some pretty good help files that walk you through certain things pretty good.
