Linux Mint or Ubuntu for minecraft server

So I'm setting up a minecraft server for a group of teens to play on and am trying to find an OS for the server. I don't really want to use XP. I'd like something more secure and modern with more than 11 months of support left. Which would you choose? Mint or Ubuntu? I've used Ubuntu in the past (8.04 and 11.04) and liked it but I've never used mint.

Since this is going to be a server use Ubuntu server edition.

The hardware is what I'm concerned with. Minecraft can be very demanding.
