Linux Mint 17.3-beta MATE and Cinnamon, 32/64-bit out!

VirtualLarry

No Lifer
Check distrowatch.

Edit: I burned and booted the 64-bit Cinnamon version, WOW, is it SLICK! Very nice improvement over 17.2, IMHO.

Last time I posted early-access links to Linux Mint ISOs, I got pig-piled upon in this forum, so no links from now on. Sorry.

Uhhh OK, it sounds like either an important part of the story is missing or there are some maniacs patrolling linked content for some inexplicable reason.

Thanks for sharing anyway?

Slick, huh? I'm guessing just aesthetic improvements?

Speaking of which, I just saw some guy on tumblr rage about Mint. I don't know how he could be so mad...

I mean, Mint's not my cup of tea, and I'm somewhat baffled by the internet's collective obsession with it, but this is some rando on tumblr, they're mad at god knows what, for god knows what reasons.

Anyway you slice it, Mint is a solid OS and has been for some time. Have not read the Tumblr " rant " but I respect your stance that it is not your cup of tea. Many choices out there these days for your OS thankfully. Personally I don't/won't get emotional or obsessive about any OS as I view them as just a tool, another knife in the drawer. Use the right one for the job at hand.

Mints dead easy to install and run.

It's got to be the most Linux noob friendly (and I say this as a Linux noob) distro.

I have 17.2 installed on my Gateway. It runs OK, but the Intel IGP is broken. Video playback kills the GPU causing a "windows-tdr" type crash and recover. I installed a new kernel (3.19.03) and new X server, which is supposed to fix the issue but it did not.

Does Mint 17.3 fix the issue, and can I update 17.2 to 17.3 by doing an in-place upgrade and lose no data?
