Linux-Mandrake help: Mouse cursor doesn't respond

I just installed Mandrake 8.0, but the mouse cursor seems very 'sticky'. For instance, when I shake the mouse very rapidly, the cursor takes a long time to respond, like it is 'skipping frames', if you know what I mean.

And the buttons don't seem to work too.

Anyone know what is wrong?

I have not installed Mandrake 8.0 yet, but, on 7.2 its gives you a selection. Just wondering if you selected the right one.

I'm very sure I chose the right mouse type.

The strange thing is: it is not that the mouse does not work completely, it is just extremely, horribly sluggish.

Think I should go back to RedHat 5.2 in the meantime. I'm just experimenting anyway.

Silly me, I left the bios virus protection 'on'. Turned it off, and the mouse works now.

Thanks for responding anyway, man.
