Linux Mandrake 8.1

I tried installing Linux Mandrake 8.1 on my camoflage machine (listed in my system rigs page). I continually got some kind of memory error. Unfortunately I do not remember exactly what the error said. I was wondering if the error was because I have too much memory (1Gb) , or just cheap memory?

I have 1GB in my linux machine (trouble or ghetto-pc in my sig since I havent updated that lately...) and linux will only use 960MB of it.
