I don't know if I've been living under a rock or if this is late breaking news.

If it is old, can someone explain whats going on, I feel like someone picked me up from the 1980's and dropped me in 2003 on the issue. Is this a huge thing? What's going on? Did I really miss this?

You've been living under a rock. 😉

SCO claims it owns patents on linux.. or basically, SCO thinkgs they own linux.

And now they want to collect. If you have used linux in the past or use it now, you owe big $$$ to SCO.

More so then typical microsoft products cost. They are now offering licenses to linux.. so now if you dont want to be sued, you can 'obtain linux legally' by paying SCO lots of money.

They really have nothing. And are just trying to get bought out by IBM so they dont go out of business.

Same sort of deal going on with some Southern Cali company, which claims they own the patents on any and all streaming media. So if any company has ever made streaming media software, or any person has every used it, you owe money to that company also.
