I use Mandrake... It actually works - not like RedHat 7.0 ...

LOL @ donut shop - that was a good one :D

Red Hat has become too commercialized....it's a sh1tty dist. for the power Linux user....

Sorry to burst your bubble, but all the article says is that Mandrake was #1 for one month for retail sales. Big deal. Mandrake is still relatively small in userbase compared to Red Hat.

Hey, just because it was only #1 for this month does not mean that it casn't out pace Red Hat.

It doesn't mean it has though either. Retail sales are virtually meaningless for determining Linux usage. It's distributed in way too many ways to keep track of.

I still prefer Slackware over any of those. I have yet to try Red Hat but I completely hated Mandrake.

FreeBSD is nice, but as another person stated it's almost entirely a server OS, unlike running something like Linux where you can run X and run linux binaries without emulation.

another vote for slackware here. i've tried red hat and it just feels like it was made to cater to windows users. not that there isn't a market for that... but i want a *real* distribution :p

I've the feeling that SuSe Linux is becoming more and more popular, and I think I know why, for it's the only Linux distro I use after having tried a few.
