Linux is far too difficult to install...

I have here two 100% legal copies of Fedore Core 3 that I downloaded from my school's ECE department. One is either Stable or Unstable. The earlier CD doesn't seem to be bootable, and if I use a bootdisk it tells me that it's gonna take forever to install Fedora because I don't have SmartDisc (or something like that) running. The Unstable CD is bootable, but always crashes at the same spot during installation. I got a Fedora Core 3 CD from a friend, and it installs fine. However it won't take either CD key for the two CDs I have. WTF? Linus Torvaldos?? So I guess I'm now stuck trying to install without SmartDisc and hoping it doesn't take too many hours to do. I should have just stuck with DOS. I'm not really sure why I'm installing Linux anyway.

The SP2 CD is bootable, but always crashes at the same spot during installation. I got a third XP Pro CD from a friend, and it installs fine. However it won't take either CD key for the two CDs I have. WTF Microsoft? So I guess I'm now stuck trying to install without SmartDisc and hoping it doesn't take too many hours to do. I should have just stuck with Win2KPro. I'm not really sure why I'm installing XP anyway.

Not sure if Fedora has a live CD version, but many of the Linux versions do. Grab the live CD, try it, and if you like it, install from there.

Upon further reflection, the above must be changed to a negative three due to the "Linus Torvaldos" portion.

Last time i used Linux (mandrake 8.x), it was just as easy to install as windows 2000, IMO.
