Good lord...I finally got my sound card to work under mandrake. i
installed turbolinux the other day, and it was fine except i couldnt rebuild
rpms for some odd reason. now im back to mandrake 8.1, and im very happy.
now all i need is a replacement for office 2k. which is better.

1. koffice
2. openoffice

or get abiword and gnumeric. i mainly use word and excel
 
You'll have to try them out and see which one you like better. If you need MS Office compatibility that rules out KOffice, and OpenOffice may be nice later but now I think it's still in too heavy development.
 
StarOffice is the most compatible, but it is kinda bloated... an unfortunate side-effect
from Microsoft compatibility 😛
