I'm trying to install Slack 9 on a buddies computer, and when I boot to the bare.i boot disk in order to get to the slack 9 install disks it hangs at the IDE1 line, directly following the IDE0. Anyone know why it would hang here? The disks work fine on my system.
 
First thing I try if a install gets borked thru freeze ups is to try to disable power management.

try passing these to kernel the kernel at boot up time:
acpi=off apm=off

Otherwise check out here the forums here are a good place to look for Slackware installation support, plus custom packages and a lot of other things.
