Im new to linux, and i decided to install redhat 9 on a gateway solo 1450 laptop with 830 intel video card, and i cant get it to work at 1024*768 at 24b, the video card its supposed to have 32mb video memory.

i already tried redhat-config-xfree86 like a thousand times. Please Help out!!

I relly like to get my hands on linux.

Ive searched in linuxlaptops.com, and nothing there work! i even download the new CVS and didn´t know why but it did not work, but i may have to repeat the process, but anyways, isnt it any driver for the i830 video card? any .tar.gz or rpm that makes it work?...

I heard intel send a bad driver to all linux distros!!... that sucks big time!!

What should i do!! Do I have to compile a kernel? is there anything that supports the i830 video card!?

Men..., that´s what kept me away from linux!!
