Running Mandrake 9.1 and i cant get my mouse to work
when i installed, i had my a MS wireless intellimouse keyboard/mouse combo attached to a trendnet 2way kvm switch
the mouse worked during installation but when it was done installing, the mouse stopped working
keyboard still worked
if i plug in a usb mouse, it will work
if i plug in a ps/2 mouse directly to the box, it doesn't work
the wireless mouse connected to the switch does not work either
any help is appreciated

sounds like your ps2 port is messed up, it might be hardware or it might be something wrong with your linux install where its not reading the ps2 port.

How do i figure out which it is and how to fix it?

you could install windows on the machine and see if the port works then.


edit: make sure you turn the box off and then connect the ps2 mouse and turn it back on. USB is hotswappable and ps2 isnt.

I had windows installed on this box before i turned it into a unix box

ran /dmesg as root and saw the following interesting notes

....
mice: ps/2 mouse device common for all mice

The usb mouse isn't even connected right now
How do i interpret these messages?
