Yeah, I know, not really Off Topic, but I know it'll get answered in about 2 minutes in Off Topic because of the traffic.

Make a long story short. I bought a cheap Web Surfing computer for a friend of mine which has Linux preinstalled on it. So, figuring MS would take over the MBR, I reformatted to Fat32, then booted to CDrom and started to install WIN2K. When the machine reboots to the Harddisk, it just says "LI" and freezes. I think LILO Boot is still on there. How do I get it off?

Thanks in advance you Linux Freaks!!

With Win2k its fixmbr (maybe) from the Win2k disk. This should have been in OS, but then I would have flamed you for being a diamond member and not knowing about the search function. Out of curiousity, why did you want to downgrade OSes on a machine like that? Just like buying licenses for win2k?

fdisk /mbr I'll try it

fdisk /mbr was for dos systems (ie win9x).
If that does not work (I dont think it did for me from win2k disk, since we all knwo youa re using NTFS with your legally licensed OS there), try fixmbr.

Or even *gasp* search the OS forum, since this gets answered quite often. Although you probably dont know that being stuck here in the Nef Forum.

Glad to hear it worked. And yes, I visit this forum. But I do use the search function :)
