I am still fairly new to linux. I can get around, but I have no idea how it actually works. I have a standard install of mandrake 7.2. Do I have DRI installed, or do I need to install it myself.
I downloaded the soldier of fortune demo from loki and I can't seem to get it working. I installed it using:
sh <sof filename>.run
it did its thing, created the directory and unpacked everything. It did not create the sof binary. Um, what do I do now. I believe I was a super user when I ran the install.
I did the same thing with the descent3 demo, it created all of the files, but I can't get the thing to run. I checked the site, but am I supposed to be in X when I run it? I know what to type to run it, but is isn't working. Is there another installation step on top of the sh... .run?
Some help would be much appreciated.
Another question...linux tells me I have a geforceDDR, when I have a geforce2, is this ok? Are they unified drivers in linux, or do I have to install other drivers.
another weird problem, Mesa Gears will not run in KDE2, but when I choose gnome, or windowmaker it runs fine.
