Linux for your Dreamcast

wow
I may have to try this as well

anyone that has done this how did you setup your dreamcast with linux, etc...?

soon people will be cracking RC5 on their dreamcasts 🙂

I doubt you could play UT - unless the full source code is available, because the instruction set is different. Maybe you could run VMware and emulate x86 😉 That'd be nice and sloowwwww

You can't compare the Dcast's cpu mhz for mhz. Even though it's only 200mhz, it's quite a powerful little beast.

sorry, let me clarify. I think UT would be VERY smooth run natively as a game. but under linux I think it would probably be slow. Although its 200mhz, it is much more powerful than my p200mmx+voodoo2. but running linux + X + UT in its ram would prolly slow down

Thats not the same 200mhz you find in CISC based processors like pentiums this is a RISC processor hardwired for games. I actually seen a pic of someone overclocking there DC to like 350 or something like that. The current spec is 249mhz i beleive and it Gel cooled? i beleive too. But i think i might pick one up this week and get started on a project with a 10inch LCD i used on a Iopener, 40gigHD5400rpm and few other tricks and force it to work as a MP3 box. hmmm
