Linux for gaming? What games can be played on a Linux system?

I was thinking about installing linux on one of my rigs... What kind of Linux-native games are there, and are there any really good sites to go to to get more information?

Off the top of my head....

Quake2, Myth, Snake Race, XRoach...

Yea, not too big of a selection. Keep a win98 boxen laying around.

I think Call to Power was ported. For me I can't remember the game, it was a tron like game, but that kept me going for hours.

Sounds nice 🙂

The penguin is on the back of the jewel case... so ... I guess it does. 🙂

Do I have to buy the linux versions, or are they available for download? 🙂

Depends on the game. Like for Q3 and UT you can buy the Windows version and just download the latest Linux point release.

From what I've seen, you always have to download it. I've yet to see a Linux only version of a game in a store (I'm probably wrong).

Q3 for Linux was released in stores, even stores like CompUSA carried it, boxed just like the Win and Mac versions a few weeks after the Win version.

You can buy Linux only versions (which can be converted to a Windows version with a file download as well). Check out EB if you have one in your area. They have a section of just Linux games and I saw that they had quite a few here.

The Quake 3 game for Linux here comes in a cool metal tin and it's like super cheap here now (only $10 Canadian).

Got my tin the week it came out at a local EBX... Never installed it 😛
