I've been looking at the posibility of going Linux on my new amd 64,, I'd like to know if anyone can tell me if there is a distro that will allow me to run Photoshop, Maya, Director, Dreamweaver and apps such as these..

Thnx in advance for replies

simple answer - no, just stick with windows since you need to use all those programs

some of those probably run under wine though.

Wine will run some of those programs. But it's mostly for people who don't like windows and are familar with Linux and use it for other purposes.

Also keep in mind that Wine isn't a emulator, it's a Win32 API clone for linux, so programs run near Windows speed.

Versions of Photoshop will run in Linux using Wine. Director I don't know about. Dreamweaver has a version that will run in linux using Wine.

Maya has a native linux version and doesn't require any wine or compatability software. Last time I installed Maya on some computers the installation package came with OS X, Windows, and Linux installation cdroms.

It's great for anything, you just have to want to use it for the right reasons. And wanting to run Adobe and Macromedia apps on Linux isn't the right reason right now.
